Another X-Files Film becomes a real possibility.

Before X-Files: I Want to Believe was even done filming the talk of a third film was everywhere, especially in the fan community. Producers Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz along with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson all said they were open to more films. In the weeks leading up to the release of the second film, Carter and Spotnitz were quoted saying that a third film would depend on the success of “I Want to Believe”. Unfortunately it performed horribly at the box office and all hope of a film franchise seemed to be lost. Thankfully that all changed this week, first a Fox executive said the future of the X-Files was in the hands of Carter, Spotnitz, Duchovny, and Anderson and then Frank Spotnitz shared his surprise in Fox’s willingness to make another film. It now seems there is hope for more X-Files especially if its a big success on DVD and Blu-ray. If you are a fan, make sure to support the cause by buying the DVD.

X-Files I Want to Believe will be the first Blu-Ray Live Disc

Fox has announced that X-Files : I Want to Believe will be the first Blu-ray title to feature BD-live extras. BD-Live is the new interactive feature of Blu-ray. The X-files BD-Live feature is called “The X-Files Dossier: Agent Dakota Whitney Files,” which allows users to search the files of the film’s characters. Other extras include picture in picture commentary and Digital Copy. For more info check out the link below.

Chris Carter's Secret Film

THR.com is reporting that Chris Carter has been busy shooting his second feature film in secret. The movie titled “FenceWalker” is described as semi-autobiographical and was financed by Carter. This will be his second feature film, the first being the soon to be released X-Files film.

Spotnitz reveals more details about the upcoming X-Files comics

CBR has an interview with Frank Spotnitz about the upcoming Wildstorm X-Files comic. Spotnitz reveals the comic unlike the film takes place during the series when Mulder and Scully are both still with the FBI. He also confirmed that the stories will be both stand-alone and mythology, the first one being a monster of the week story.

New X-Files Ongoing Comic Series

For months there has been rumors of a new X-Files comic series floating around the net and last month Wildstorm confirmed a new X-Files comic for July. Based on the cover-art and the “special” title most of us assumed it was a one-shot or a movie tie in, but it is in fact Issue #0 of a new ongoing X-Files comic series. If that wasn’t enough good news the series is going to be written by Frank Spotnitz. Wildstorm confirmed this is an ad in the new Chuck comic based on the TV series.

X-Files Comic Book Details

Wildstorm will be releasing an X-Files comic book on July 23rd, 2008. The book will be written by Frank Spotnitz with art by Brian Denham. This appears to be a movie tie in one shot. There is no new news about the rumored ongoing comic series.
